New map interface on Global Forest Watch makes it easier to use and customize forest data
Global Forest Watch (GFW) is an online platform that provides data and tools for monitoring forests. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, GFW allows anyone to access near real-time information about where and how forests are changing around the world. Last week, GFW launched a new user interface making it easier to explore, analyze and customize forest data for use in determining solutions in ending deforestation.
New features include:
- An improved search tool;
- New “explore” tab;
- Addition of new boundaries for analysis;
- New ability to analyze based on river basins;
- New ability to analyze based on ecoregions; and
- Additional customization options such as adding active layers, changing opacity of individual layers, and new base layers.
