The IUCN CCC was approved by resolution 110  at the World Conservation Congress held in Marseille in 2021. The mission of the CCC is to mobilize and coordinate the Union and engage with regional and national IUCN Committees and broader civil society efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change based on the best available scientific evidence coming from the IPCC and taking into account the actions and initiatives that are developed in the UNFCCC and through the Global Climate Action Agenda. The focus of this Commission, to address is to find convergence between climate and nature and between the different sectors of society.  This session marks the launch of the IUCN CCC led by Manuel Pulgar-Vidal along with the presentation of its objectives, vision, and Steering Committee members. The session also includes the participation of leaders from other IUCN commissions to discuss how they can best find synergies and support climate goals.
