The Nature Positive Hub at London Climate Action Week 2024
Building upon the success of our Nature Positive Hub at New York Climate Week, we are expanding our efforts to London Climate Action Week in collaboration with NGO partners and private sector sponsors. N4C will host a day of discussions and networking opportunities focusing on overcoming hesitations in finance, carbon markets, and the use of technology. Register now to join us on June 26th, 2024.

Companies and Carbon Credits: From Anecdote to Evidence
Ecosystem Marketplace carries an article from Nature4Climate’s Chair Lucy Almond highlighting recent evidence that clarifies how companies currently are using carbon credits and what role carbon credits should play and why the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) board’s recent announcement that high-integrity carbon credits will be allowed to count toward some Scope 3 emissions. The announcement has generated significant debate amongst stakeholders on the role of voluntary carbon markets in corporate climate action
New maps help decision-makers factor albedo into tree-planting strategies
Researchers at Clark University, The Nature Conservancy, and ETH-Zurich hope to change the way albedo is accounted for in climate estimates and have published a new study with detailed maps showing albedo changes around the world. This should help governments and other decision makers choose the best places for tree cover restoration.
Finance for nature creeped up, but still falls well short of what’s needed
We need nature-based solutions (NbS) to provide up to a third of the mitigation required by 2030 in order to keep the goals of the Paris Agreement in reach. However, in 2022 they received roughly $200 billion a year, – up from $154 billion in 2021. While this represents an increase of 11%, it is still only a third (37%) of what’s needed by 2030 to achieve global climate and biodiversity goals.

New paper: "The Principles of Natural Climate Solutions"
Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) contribute to short- and long-term climate change mitigation, offering essential benefits for biodiversity and communities. A new paper, “The Principles of Natural Climate Solutions,” led by The Nature Conservancy and authored by experts from seven organizations, outlines guidelines for incentivizing and implementing global efforts to protect, better manage, and restore nature. Published in the journal Nature Communications, it provides a framework for effective action.

NbS Commitment Tracker update
A recent update of Nature4Climate’s NbS Commitment Tracker has found that more than half (52.5%) of all commitments tracked have published little to no evidence of progress and only 14 out of 127 commitments (11%) have language or specific initiatives mentioning Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs).
NbS Policy Tracker
In a recent evaluation of global policies, Nature4Climate in partnership with Arboretica uncovered startling statistics about the allocation of budgets for nature-based solutions (NbS). The findings, powered by advanced artificial intelligence, indicate that a mere 12% of policies worldwide have dedicated budgets for NbS implementation.
Natural climate solutions
In the next decade, nature can provide one third of the solution to climate change.
We need the world to become #NaturePositive.
