Major commitments to protect, manage, and restore nature have been set through updated nationally determined contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. In fact, 84% of NDCs include nature-based solutions to climate change. Each NDC represents the pledges a government is making to address climate change; protecting nature can help countries reduce their net greenhouse gas emissions and/or provide myriad adaptation and resilience benefits.

Historically, investments for the protection, management, and restoration of natural habitats have been insufficient to prevent continued loss and degradation. But renewed action on climate change and wider recognition of the multiple benefits these ecosystems provide for people and nature have led to more robust and innovative financing opportunities.

Limited financing remains a significant roadblock for many countries as they strive to develop a nature-positive future. This panel will explore creative and sustainable ways to secure financing for nature.
