The Nature Conservancy (the “Conservancy”) takes your privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy applies to the following sites: www.nature.org (and each sub-domain associated with this URL) and other websites owned and/or operated by or for the Conservancy, including mobile sites (collectively, the “Sites”). By visiting the Sites, you are accepting the policies described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you are not permitted to use the Sites. The Conservancy may revise this privacy policy from time to time. We will post any changes here, so be sure to check back periodically. Your continued use of the Sites after changes have been posted will constitute your acceptance of such changes.

What information we collect: The Nature Conservancy may ask for and collect from you personally identifiable information at various points throughout the site. Depending on the information and/or services you request, you may be asked to provide your name, email address, address, phone number, payment details, and similar information. Once you provide your personal information, you are not anonymous to The Nature Conservancy.

Credit Card Information: If you choose to provide your credit card information to the Nature Conservancy we will use that information for the purposes for which it was provided.

How The Nature Conservancy uses your information: The Nature Conservancy may use your information:

  • To alert you to new projects, site features, special events and services.

Who The Nature Conservancy shares the information with: Subject to your right to opt-out (discussed later in this policy), The Nature Conservancy may share your name and postal address (but not your email address) with organizations that offer products or services that we believe may interest you. The Nature Conservancy may also share your information with third parties in the following situations (i) to complete your request, e.g. providing information about a project, product, or service; (ii) to outsource one or more of the functions described above; or (iii) to share your information with the authorities in response to a legal order or official request, or when we believe you have acted in violation of our Terms of Use.

Where and when The Nature Conservancy collects information on the Website: In addition to the information you knowingly provide, The Nature Conservancy also collects the domain names and IP addresses used by people that visit us, as well as site usage statistics such as web browser types and page requests. This data is not usually personally identifiable, and is used to more efficiently operate The Nature Conservancy’s business, prepare for network load demands, promote our organization and administer the Website.

How we collect information: In addition to the information gathered as described above, there is a technology called “cookies” that can be used to provide you with tailored information from a website. Children: This Website is not directed toward children under 13 years of age nor does The Nature Conservancy knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personally identifiable information to The Nature Conservancy.

Choice: The Nature Conservancy may share your name and postal address with organizations that offer products and services that we believe may interest you. You have the right to opt-out of such information sharing. The Nature Conservancy may also use your personal information to send you surveys or email messages about Nature Conservancy projects, events, and services. You may also choose to opt-out of receiving email and information from The Nature Conservancy. Finally, you may choose to de-activate your Nature Conservancy membership.
