Amazon Week 2025

Berlin | Brussels | Paris

Monday 2nd June 2025 - Friday 13th June 2025
Berlin | Brussels | Paris

THE ROAD TO COP 30: FINANCE, BIOECONOMY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

Amazon Week 2025 marks the third edition of a program dedicated to highlighting the critical role of the world’s largest rainforest in maintaining global climate balance, protecting biodiversity and fostering sustainable development.

This year, a series of impactful events in Berlin, Brussels, and Paris will hold heightened significance as they lead up to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), set to take place in the Amazonian city of Belém, in November 2025. COP30 represents a historic opportunity to spot the Amazon at the heart of sustainable development discussions, amplifying the voices of its peoples and their needs.

The Amazon Week 2025 will therefore be a key milestone on the road to COP 30, fostering dialogue with European partners and building momentum for ambitious commitments and collaborative frameworks.

The 2025 program is structured around two core pillars:

1. Finance: A robust financial architecture is indispensable for addressing the climate and biodiversity crises. This first pillar will explore pathways to effectively mobilize and allocate resources to the Amazon region and to nature in general, while also discussing means and solutions towards enhancing climate and biodiversity finance and making financial flows consistent with sustainable development.

2. Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development: This pillar emphasizes sustainable and equitable approaches to the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, aligning with the G20 High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy, adopted under Brazil’s presidency of G20 in 2024, and the Mercosur-EU trade agreement, which will provide opportunities for interregional cooperation and access to EU markets for a variety of products of the “Socio-Bioeconomy”. This pillar also include the scaling up of initiatives dedicated to renewable energy, sustainable tourism, ecosystem restoration and bio-based technologies, which enhance ecological integrity.

Amazon Week 2025 will feature high-level and technical panels; policy dialogues focused on actionable outcomes; cultural showcases celebrating the Amazon’s heritage; and networking opportunities connecting governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector. As in previous editions, interested partners are invited to contribute to events and initiatives, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive process.
