Including Nature-based Solutions in Nationally Determined Contributions – Guidance and Best Practice.

Online

Wednesday 4th June 2025
11:00 (UTC+7)

The first of this webinar series will focus on the inclusion of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). As countries prepare their next round of NDCs for submission in 2025, known as the NDCs 3.0, the integration of NbS can offer substantial opportunities to contribute to both mitigation and adaptation goals and it will be critical for maximizing climate ambition, building resilience, and promoting sustainable development.

Many NDCs currently lack clear guidance, standardized methodologies or sufficient detail on how NbS are incorporated, monitored, and financed. This webinar aims to support countries in the Asia-Pacific region in systematically including NbS in their NDCs through targeted guidance that highlights mandates, common frameworks, and policy initiatives from the region. It will also provide a platform for countries and development partners to exchange information on best practices and case studies of NbS and NDC alignment in Asia and the Pacific.

Objective

This webinar aims to assist policymakers, technical experts, and stakeholders in effectively integrating NbS into NDCs. It will provide a structured approach for identifying, designing and implementing NbS actions, aligned with climate goals and national development priorities.

Expected Outcomes

  • Enhanced clarity and consistency in how NbS are integrated in NDCs

  • Improved capacity of national governments to plan and implement NbS

  • Strengthened alignment between climate, biodiversity, and sustainable development objectives in the NDCs 3.0
