13:30 - 14:30

Climate resilient forests are as much a product of philosophical and ethical remediation as they are of enhanced forest science, policy, and management practices. Indigenous Knowledge (IK) and partnerships with Tribal Nations can vitally inform climate resilience across cultural boundaries. Given the speed of anthropogenic climate change and its impacts on biodiversity and ecological resilience, we need such partnerships now more than ever. IK, also known as “original science,” provides essential data about how humans can steward nature for resilience.

This panel will describe recent efforts in the U.S. to develop a roadmap for braided knowledge in the policy and management of publicly and tribally owned forests. Panelists will include researchers and tribal and federal forestry officials.
