“Youth Empowerment in the Face of Climate and Ecological Breakdown” is an interactive workshop-by-youth, for-youth, that aims to collaboratively address themes of youth engagement in solutions to the climate and nature crises. Led by Youth4Nature, the workshop will have 3 parts: (1) a World Cafe on nature, climate change, and reflections of the participants’ involvement in climate/environmental activism, campaigning and projects; (2) an interactive set of activities to learn about how to bring together climate action and nature (including conservation, protection and restoration) through nature-based solutions for the climate crisis; and (3) a collaborative brainstorming session to develop a guide to implementing youth-led nature and climate projects. It will feature a short presentation by a young climate/nature leader on how they kick-started their own project, as well as practical tips on youth campaigning and project management. The workshop will strengthen the knowledge and the networks of young people and youth groups to steward a collective “youth for nature and for climate” movement. By encouraging discussion about both problems and solutions, theory and action, this dynamic workshop will directly address the isolation and anxiety that the nature and climate movements can foster among young people, creating an inclusive space that encourages a global supportive community of youth nature and climate leaders.
