Co-hosted by the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU), World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and We Mean Business Coalition, the event will delve into key insights from a recently published report series: ‘Future Fit Food and Agriculture’ revealing that US $205 billion per year is needed from the food sector to mitigate half of global food system emissions. While significant, these costs are manageable for the sector as a whole as they represent less than 2% of total food sector revenues.

Industry leaders will convene to discuss the critical role companies play in addressing emissions resulting from agricultural production and land-use changes within their value chains. Speakers will spotlight the costs and benefits of this transition, as well as the influence of existing and emerging voluntary standards on climate and nature legislation.

Greenhouse gas emissions are decreasing rapidly for some countries and sectors, not so much in others. This webinar– part of an ongoing series, Drawdown Briefings, available to Drawdown Labs Business and Capital Coalition members and other select stakeholders– will explore these trends and draw conclusions about the areas where emissions are going in the right direction and those which will need to be addressed more deliberately.

The event will focus on discussing how Web3 technologies provide new methods previously unavailable, with the potential to enhance and design equitable nature markets. We will hear from pioneering solution-providers who are crafting applications across different segments.

• Francisco Gómez (COO) of Terrasos, will speak about their collaboration with Regen Network to create a web3-based bio-credit market offering.
• Hania Othman (Director of Sustainable Impact for EMEA) of HBAR Foundation, will talk about building the technical infrastructure for Web3 digital nature markets and guiding principles.

During the event, Hiba Larsson and Konstantina Koulouri of NatureFinance will also share insights on the Nature Investor Circle’s new extensive market landscape report, identifying opportunities and strategies for Web3 technologies within nature markets.

Wetlands International and Conservation International in collaboration with Commonland and Landscape Finance Lab are launching a new publication on ‘Landscape Carbon Accounting Guidance’. The publication provides project developers with pragmatic guidance on implementing one of the voluntary carbon standards, the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), at a landscape level, focusing on the greenhouse gas accounting component.

The publication also seeks to provide guidance on addressing the complexity associated with developing verified carbon standard projects when taken at the landscape-scale approach, to boost investment and achieve holistic impact.
