Community-Based Solutions: Strengthening Indigenous Economic Initiatives in Forest Territories as nature-positive solutions to climate change

The session is designed to bring the topic of Indigenous economic initiatives in forest territories to the fore. Through presentations of existing initiatives from around the world, the potential of these activities to combat climate change will be demonstrated, as well as the AGCT’s GIFT mechanism. 

After an introduction by a national authority (possibly the Minister of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil) on the importance of the Indigenous economy, there will be a presentation of Indigenous economic experiences from different parts of the world (Indonesia, Ecuador, Peru). Finally, the new support mechanism for the Indigenous economy, the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (GIFT), which has been working on, will be presented.
