About Us

Who we are

Nature4Climate is a multi‑stakeholder coalition of 30 international organizations working to accelerate and scale the implementation of nature‑based solutions.

We serve as a platform for unbranded communications, advocacy, and movement‑building, acting as the connective tissue of the global climate‑nature movement. Through collective campaigns and strategic influence, we help unlock private sector investment in NbS, shift economies to work with nature rather than against it, and advance policies and practices that deliver high‑integrity solutions.

Our ultimate goal is to unlock nature’s full potential to advance Paris‑aligned climate action, protect biodiversity, strengthen global resilience, and support inclusive economic growth by 2030.

What we want

We cannot deliver the Paris Agreement without nature. It’s that simple—and that important.

To mitigate and adapt to the worst impacts of climate change, we must protect, restore, and sustainably manage natural ecosystems, alongside rapid decarbonization and a just energy transition. These efforts must happen together, not sequentially.

Nature‑based solutions (NbS) are also essential for sustainable economic growth—protecting livelihoods, and enhancing human health and resilience. Yet, NbS remain undervalued and underfunded in public policy, private sector investment, and global discourse.

Acting as a trusted, unbranded intermediary, the Nature4Climate coalition delivers expert‑led communications and narratives, evidence‑based data, and coordinated advocacy to accelerate decision‑making on NbS and ensure they are understood, prioritized, and financed at scale.

We want to:

  • Align government ambition on NbS with the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework
  • Scale investment in NbS to $571 billion per year by 2030
  • Triple finance for nature and help close the $700 billion annual funding gap
  • Demonstrate how NbS at scale deliver a triple win for climate, nature, and people across every continent

We also champion four strategic contributions toward a global nature breakthrough:

We align civil society, scientists, IPLC leaders, youth networks, media, businesses and financiers around shared goals.

Through the Nature Hub, joint campaigns, unified policy positions and realtime intelligence tools, we help partners show up stronger and more strategically at pivotal climate moments, such as major global conferences and regional climate weeks.

By empowering organisations to act together with clarity and purpose, we strengthen political momentum, accelerate implementation, and amplify the movement’s influence on global decisions shaping the future of nature and climate.

Naturebased solutions are already delivering real climate, biodiversity, economic, and community benefits, yet these successes often remain unseen. N4C provides governments and the private sector with the proof points they need to act confidently; it does so by elevating regenerative business innovations, nature-positive investment, communityled conservation and restoration, and jurisdictional approaches that are unlocking finance. It raises the visibility of these actions through its Nature Hubs, media engagement, case studies and private sector convenings that help to build confidence, reduce perceived risks, and accelerate public and private investment.

From international organizations to national governments and local communities, people are deploying good practices and addressing lessons learned in every region of the planet. N4C links science, policy-making and case studies to tell stories of projects that consider protection, restoration, and improved land management actions in forests, wetlands, grasslands, and agricultural lands. By supporting community-led approaches and amplifying local voices, N4C aims to bring their expertise at the forefront of discussions and media coverage. This inclusive approach fosters a deeper understanding of solutions relevant to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IP&LCs), respects cultural contexts, and tackles diverse climate challenges.

Continuing to build confidence in NbS is essential for scaling action and investment. Nature4Climate strengthens trust by elevating science, aligning communications, building collective knowledge, supporting stronger standards, and countering misinformation – especially around carbon markets, durability, and project integrityWe highlight the essential role of Indigenous and local community leadership, demonstrating how ownership, rights and benefit sharing drive durable outcomes.

We also showcase how nature tech – including advanced monitoring, verification, AI and remote sensing – is improving transparency and accountability across projects and jurisdictionsThrough aligned narratives, media briefings and policy-relevant messaging, we help decision-makers navigate complexity with clarity.

Nature4Climate acts as the connective tissue of the global climate‑nature movement, mobilizing government action and private sector investment in nature‑based solutions.

The Nature4Climate team has been at this for eight years now and has done incredible work elevating nature in climate policy—and in the private sector. Eight or nine years ago, most of us had never even heard the terms “natural climate solutions” or “nature-based solutions.” But Nature4Climate and its member organizations have made nature part of the conversation. That’s a huge win.

Chief Sustainability Officer and Head, Impact Investment Management at the BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group (TIG).

Threats to biodiversity transcend borders, which is why it is more important than ever to join our local efforts to the global movement. At a time when we have lost three billion birds over the past 50 years, the National Audubon Society is proud to combine our science-based expertise on birds and their habitats, along with the engagement of our 2 million members, with the efforts of the Nature4Climate coalition to realize a better future for both people and wildlife.

N4C is bridging the critical missing gap in nature-based solutions implementation, enhancing the ambition loop between non-state actors and countries. The Climate Champions team values their collaborative efforts, emphasizing the adaptation of the agenda towards the high-quality, integrity-driven delivery of NbS on the ground.

Mohamed Nady
UN Climate Change HighLevel Champion

The collective trust building work that is led by Nature4Climate and supported by many of its member organisations, including WBCSD, plays an important role in building confidence for private sector investment in nature through the voluntary carbon market. This type of solutions-oriented approach is much needed if we are to scale up investments into natural climate solutions at the speed required.

Given our shared goals, the Nature Positive Initiative has partnered with Nature4Climate at milestone events throughout 2023. We were delighted to launch our initiative at the Nature Positive hub during New York Climate Week. The momentum around the Nature Positive Pavilion at climate COPs has grown year-on-year, demonstrating the power of collective campaigning that Nature4Climate embodies.

We are glad for the partnership and funding from N4C. For us at YBF, it has been more than a funder-fundee relationship. We have together inspired community youth to be climate champions and be interested in local governance . Bowkrom youth are now able to support the nature positive agenda through their sustained interest in the DUAPA Reforestation Project.”

FSC is glad to be a new member of the Nature4Climate coalition in 2024. Our connection with N4C started during NY Climate Week 2023, where the Nature Hub proved to be the go-to space for impactful conversations and collaborations. We were glad to be partners at this year’s Nature Hub — not only did we have great space to convene our three side events, but the N4C team provided expert advice on event design and supported collaboration and relationship building.  We were also proud to join over 100 organizations in signing N4C’s letter urging the G20 to take action on closing the nature finance gap. The convening power of N4C is truly exceptional!
