Public Consultation: N4C Advocacy Positions 2025
This conclusion is to get wider feedback from members and allies to refine the 6 focus areas for the Nature4Climate Coalition public advocacy in 2025. We are looking for the following feedback.
1. Do we have the right level of detail and ambition in our advocacy asks ahead of COP30?
2. What are the key moments across 2025 to land these advocacy asks?
3. Do you have any planned advocacy or campaign interventions (events, reports, communication assets) aligned with these asks?
4. If there was one key advocacy, ask for our public campaigns and communications to focus on which one would it be?
>> Please email feedback to James.Lloyd@Nature4Climate.org with ‘Advocacy Consultation’ and name of your organization in the subject line.
Note on the scope of N4C’s Advocacy Asks
N4C’s advocacy focuses on accelerating ambition and implementation of NbS for climate action, largely through engagement in UNFCCC processes. Our work is intended to complement and intersect with advocacy efforts of other coalitions and campaign organizations, including FOLU’s work on food systems, Campaign for Nature’s work on 30 by 30, and Nature Positive Initiative’s focus on metrics within the Convention for Biodiversity. We share many of the same advocacy asks and campaign messages, but N4C also tries to avoid replication so we can play to our own strengths while constantly networking and aligning.
Timeline for consultation
8th April: Working Group Sign Off draft ask for consultation paper agreed
14th April: Send out to members, allies and business groups for consultation
2nd May: Deadlines for feedback and revisions from consultation
20th May: Revised version circulated to N4C Diplomacy Group for final comments
23rd May: Document locked for N4C Final Review
27th May: External version published – 1-2 pagers briefing each advocacy objective
10th June: V1 Campaign materials published in advance of the June intersessional – with comms messaging*.
* Further iterations for our Advocacy Asks supported with communications messaging and ‘with nature’ campaign assets will be developed post-Bonn once we have a clearer understanding of the COP30 negotiation agenda and appropriate intervention points.
Audience for our advocacy
Our primary audience for the final public advocacy asks will be negotiators at the UNFCCC. The secondary audience includes policymakers in their home countries who focus on deciding implementing policies and setting ambitions in NDCs. Lastly, we aim to share these asks with the wider movement to help them align their own requests, tactics, and communications with the N4C Coalition, increasing transparency and maximizing our collective impact. Therefore, we seek to consult before publishing these asks to ensure conscious alignment and avoid unnecessary duplication.
