Driven by emerging regulation and voluntary standards, companies are increasingly interested in investing down their supply chains to meet their climate and nature goals. If well designed, these efforts have the potential to transform landscapes, support biodiversity, and bolster the resilience of producers all while supporting global climate goals. But uncertain carbon accounting rules, complex supply chain dynamics, and competitive pressures have stymied action. On the other side of the supply chain, producers are already seeing the impacts of climate change and need support for the transition, but they’re also skeptical of carbon finance.  Without an approach that prioritizes communities and nature, there’s a risk that carbon-driven investments may fail to deliver critical and sustainable outcomes for people, biodiversity, and the climate.

In this session, we will hear how companies, NGOs, and investors are partnering to scale nature-based solutions within agricultural supply chains and hear farmer perspectives on what works and what doesn’t.  We’ll also introduce a new partnership between Conservation International and Bregal Sphere Nature, a novel model for scaling climate, nature, & social impact within agricultural value chains.
