Climate and Impact Summit Europe: Nature-based solutions – unlocking investment for biodiversity and climate resilience
London and Online
Wednesday 21st May 2025
London (UK)
Over the past half-century, global wildlife populations have declined by nearly 75%. This alarming trend poses significant risks to human health, the global economy and ecosystems. Investors, including pension funds and insurance firms, are increasingly aligning their portfolios with nature-positive outcomes to mitigate financial risks associated with environmental degradation. Nature-based solutions can harness the power of nature to boost natural ecosystems, biodiversity and human well-being to address major societal issues, including climate change.
- How can companies go beyond traditional CSR to adopt nature-based solutions as part of their long-term sustainability strategy, creating value through ecosystem restoration, sustainable sourcing, and climate resilience? –
- How can instruments such as biodiversity bonds, green ETFs, and biodiversity-linked loans appeal to impact investors and traditional capital markets, scaling investment in NbS initiatives?
- How can companies in high-impact sectors (e.g., agriculture, forestry, mining) incorporate biodiversity initiatives into their business models to enhance resilience and brand sustainability value?

Global Sustainable Finance Conference
Online
Wednesday 26th March 2025
13:00 (GMT)
Despite announcements at the COP29 meeting to triple climate finance for developing nations, the current annual flow of $850 billion remains significantly below the $2.4 trillion required by 2030 to meet climate targets. Developing countries, often the most vulnerable to climate impacts, face substantial barriers, including inadequate regulatory frameworks, perceived investment risks, and limited institutional knowledge. These challenges are compounded by insufficient private sector participation, underdeveloped carbon markets, and fragmented global collaboration, underscoring the need for actionable and inclusive solutions. The UNFCCC has highlighted the importance of governments and other key stakeholders to better understand the financial needs of developing countries and mobilising financial resources appropriately to support adaptation and mitigation efforts.
Financial institutions, whilst committed to supporting sustainable finance, are looking for solutions to create a win-win situation for all stakeholders. This involves addressing key challenges around governance, data management, reporting standards and compliance. Leveraging climate data through advanced ESG metrics and standardised reporting tools are also key to improving investment decision-making. Blended finance models, integrating public and private capital, have yielded promising results in terms of de-risking green investments and unlocking funding for high-impact projects.
This year’s conference will bring together policy makers, representatives from investment banks, central banks, analysts and other experts to analyse global and regional developments in sustainable finance and its future. We will examine unique advancements and persistent gaps in scaling green finance while evaluating ways to overcome them. Discussions will also delve into the role of digital technologies, including AI and blockchain, in enhancing accountability and efficiency. Carbon markets and pricing mechanisms will be discussed along with the role of cooperation on global and regional levels, robust monitoring systems, and KPIs to ensure accountability. By fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and addressing structural barriers, the Global Climate Finance Conference 2025 aims to transform commitments into tangible progress, paving the way for a sustainable and equitable future.

Latin America Climate Week 2025: Dialogues for Ambition and Implementation

Building on the strong foundation laid over the years by the Regional Climate Weeks and recognizing the evolving needs and new challenges of the climate agenda, the UNFCCC secretariat is introducing a new and enhanced platform in 2025 – the new Climate Weeks, dialogues for ambition and implementation.
This biannual meeting platform, led by the UNFCCC secretariat and aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, will focus on accelerating the translation to action on the ground of decisions adopted under the intergovernmental process, and will build momentum towards COP30 by facilitating targeted inputs to future meetings.
In this format, the Climate Weeks will bring together representatives of Parties and non-Party stakeholders in a global space that will combine several planned UNFCCC mandated meetings, as well as policy and high-impact dialogues, offering a unique opportunity to link the intergovernmental process and the discussions that will feed into COP with the real needs of implementation, enabling the consolidation of activities to increase efficiency and impact. The Climate Weeks will be held twice a year in different regions, maintaining a global focus.
