Forests are the best technology to solve climate change

Jennifer Morgan, Executive Director of Greenpeace International, writes that forests and land-use must play a key role in climate mitigation rather than relying on artificial carbon dioxide removal technologies. Forests are the world’s oldest carbon capture and storage technology, and can be deployed at a global scale without risk. By spurring action from governments, NGOs, and industries, Morgan is confident that protecting remaining forests, restoring degraded land, and reforming agricultural practices to store more carbon can solve one third of the climate solution. “Home to millions of people, our forests offer us a path towards climate mitigation, but we have no time to waste.” she says.
