The Nature4Climate and Nature Tech Memos launched “The Nature Tech Directory” today, a new database tracking around 1,000 companies worldwide that are applying nature tech solutions, such as AI, satellite data, IoT, and other digital tools to reduce costs, mitigate environmental risks, and build nature-positive business models. This new directory gives businesses an essential resource for navigating this fast-growing sector. The database is also now part of the Nature Tech Hub, a dedicated area on the Nature4Climate website showcasing all reports analyzing this market so far, as well as the latest news, videos, and events.

Below, you can read more about the directory applications directly from its lead developer:

Sifting Through the Masses: A NatureTech Directory

by Travis Rose, The Nature Conservancy Data Systems Analyst

The NatureTech sector is an exciting and rapidly evolving landscape, brimming with innovative companies dedicated to addressing some of the world’s most pressing issues. However, navigating this dynamic space can be daunting, as it often feels difficult to grasp the breadth of work being undertaken. So, when I was presented with the opportunity to help develop a community directory, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. This initiative not only allowed me to gain deeper insights into the remarkable contributions of these companies but also provided a platform for individuals and businesses seeking to learn more about the sector.

As we approached the launch of the directory, we discovered that Ollie Potter and the team at NatureTechMemos were working on a similar resource. Recognizing the potential for synergy, we collaborated to merge our efforts into a unified, comprehensive directory, resulting in an invaluable repository featuring nearly 1,000 entries.

Key Features of the Directory:

  • Structured Categorization: Companies are organized into two tiers. Tier 1 classifies companies into one of four primary categories: Measure, Act, Aggregate, and Project Developers. Tier 2 provides insights into each company’s specific area of focus.
  • Funding Information: Where available, the directory includes critical funding details, such as funding stage, total capital raised, and names of investors.
  • Company Descriptions: Each entry features a succinct overview of the company, highlighting its mission and contributions.
  • Accessibility: This resource is freely available to anyone interested in exploring the NatureTech landscape.
  • Community Contributions: If you know of additional companies not currently listed, or if you wish to add your own company, we have created a user-friendly form that takes less than three minutes to complete, enabling community engagement.

The NatureTech directory serves as an essential resource for anyone interested in the innovative solutions emerging in this sector. By fostering collaboration and community engagement, we aim to elevate awareness of the significant contributions being made to address environmental challenges.

We invite you to explore the directory and join us in supporting the transformative work within NatureTech:

Nature tech startups are projected to attract up to $2bn in investments by the end of 2024, twice as much as six years ago, across nearly 200 deals.
