This event will bring in the perspectives of different sectors that are using nature-based solutions (NBS) for adaptation with a goal of sharing practice and identifying ways to scale up. In a Moderated Talk Show set in the year 2050, we will provoke sector reps ideas on what measures are needed to advance NBS at scale. The creative conversations and ideas shared will challenge participants to think about the scale of climate impacts that are on the horizon and therefore the need for bold and transformative steps to build adaptive capacity using NBS. Sectoral representatives will illustrate how their sectors will look in 2050 and share ideas on how a wider-spread implementation of NBS have helped to reach that future moving beyond the small scale pilots and narrow set of stakeholders (e.g., civil society organizations and certain departments of government, like environment, forestry, climate). Following the Talk Show and launch of a booklet on nature-based transformative adaptation opportunities, the session will transition into break-out groups. Each group will focus on sharing practice and learning among peers in different sectors on NBS. In addition to sharing practice on what promising efforts exist today, the group will build out a set of recommendations on what measures are needed to overcome barriers to scaling up transformative NBS for adaptation.
