The Nature Hub CWNYC 2026 events

This closed session will bring together public and private sector representatives to explore practical approaches to unlocking private finance for forest value chains. Discussion will focus on three interrelated priorities: building the business case for investable landscape opportunities, developing fit-for-purpose financing structures and vehicles, and translating forest-risk disclosure and data into actionable insights that can drive investment and scale.

This energising and interactive session, opened by the CBD Executive Secretary, will aim to build momentum from across the business and finance sector ahead of CBD COP17 in October. It will showcase real world case studies of where businesses and financial institutions are already contributing to the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) across various sectors, highlight why action on biodiversity is good for business, and discuss key barriers and solutions. This session will be followed by a business networking lunch.

This closed roundtable will explore how to scale regenerative timber and non-timber value chains, creating economic value from standing forests and restored landscapes while strengthening livelihoods, climate resilience and biodiversity. Participants will examine the finance, infrastructure, standards, technology, markets and safeguards needed to build investable portfolios, and identify priority actions to position the forest bioeconomy within national growth, industrialisation and trade strategies.

This open session, convened by the Scaling J-REDD+ Coalition, will bring together forest jurisdictions, indigenous leaders and corporate partners to mark the progress of J-REDD+ and explore what makes it one of today’s most compelling climate solutions: high-integrity, cost-effective mitigation at scale and available now. Aligned with national and regional development priorities and delivering inclusive benefits for forests and communities. Hear from those leading the way and discover what is needed to accelerate action.

Forests are the largest natural carbon sink we can actively manage, restore and finance at scale. Technology helps unlock that potential. The ability to monitor removals from restoration and conservation, alongside emissions from degradation, drought and fire with greater precision, is changing what forest carbon finance can reward. This briefing shows what the state of global forest carbon looks like and points to the opportunities that better measurement unlocks.

This discussion will cover how blended finance models should distribute the cost and risk of the climate transition across agricultural value chains. This session also reviews three existing instruments with different approaches on how to de-risk the transition for local farming and forest communities, and invites session participants to respond to these approaches while reflecting on their own role in driving the climate transition.

Coastal communities around the world are already proving that nature-based solutions work — restoring mangroves, conserving and restoring fisheries, and building green-grey infrastructure that protects people and ecosystems at once.  And as major new marine infrastructure such as offshore wind moves into these same coastal waters, there is a real opportunity to plan it alongside nature-based solutions, so that clean energy and healthy coasts advance together. This panel brings together the people building these projects on the ground to explore what’s working, and what it takes to ensure flexible, direct finance reaches the community and Indigenous partners on the coastal frontline.

One year after the launch of the Forest Finance Roadmap, the Nature Hub CWNYC2026 opening session will bring together Ministers to launch the first Progress Report, highlighting progress and the critical gaps that remain. Ministerial interventions will showcase replicable good practices across the Roadmap’s solutions, demonstrating how the framework can drive continued action and accountability towards 2030.
