As the clock ticks down to 2020, this is a critical moment to take stock of deforestation-free commitments that have been made, and formulate needs to happen – both in the public and private sector sphere –  to bring about real changes by 2020 and beyond.

Close to 800 companies and numerous governments have committed to eliminate deforestation from their supply chains. Yet deforestation and habitat conversion driven by commodities including beef, palm oil, soy and cocoa continues unabated.

Taking advantage of the high-level presence of political decision makers and business representatives, this event will give political and corporate champions a platform to showcase their progress but also identify critical actions needed by government leaders and private sector, both on the demand and supply side, to drastically accelerate the pace of halting deforestation and eliminating deforestation.

The aim is to come out of this event with strong calls for actions by businesses and policy decision makers and potentially new commitments and announcements.
